To My Mother of Mine

What many of us take for granted are the ones who don’t ask anything of us. Those that simply love, listen, and are there just because they want to be. The ones that give more then they ever get, the ones that nurture and support out of habit and simply disregard anything else but compassion and comfort. These types of beings are rare, irreplaceable and unique in every way possible. These rare beings have been defined and called many names, but most commonly are known as our mothers.

I think one goes through phases and waves when it comes to understanding and figuring out their relationship with their mother, and I find it even more confusing when you’re a daughter. Going from wanting to be constantly by her side & idolizing everything she does, to rolling your eyes, locking the door, not listening to a word, to running back and wishing you were back by her side, listened to every word she said, and not taking any chance you get to be with her for granted.

The understanding and appreciation of what she truly is to you takes time, maturity, and growth, but the realization of how truly blessed you are to have her in your life is something that is understood, at times not spoken and voiced, but understood.

When I find myself sitting here and thinking of how to describe my mom, I find it almost amusing that I am having trouble figuring out how to properly convey  her in words. I then realize the reasoning behind this is because it’s hard to describe someone who you feel anything you say or try to convey truly will not do justice, because in all honesty it won’t.

My mom is one of those that doesn’t necessarily wear her heart on her sleeve, she never asks for sympathy, she never needs justification from anyone, she’s strong, she’s so strong. Not only is she responsible for holding me together, but she is the mold, glue, duct tape, that saves and shapes everyone else as well.

Her strength has gotten us all through the worry, uncertainty and struggles we as a family have dealt with.

Her determination has given all of us the kick in the ass and boost we need to accomplish whatever we want to do.

Her spirit and comfort has picked each and everyone of us off the ground and brought us back to where we need to be.

Her heart is the reason we have grown to be as loyal and caring for each other as we are today.

I hope you know how honored, blessed & thankful I am that I have you as my mom and what an inspiration you are to me and everyone around you.

Heres to you Cashton.
